Difference between jam, compote and jam

There are different techniques to make fruit preserves, the most common are:

• Jam: it is made with crushed or chopped fresh fruit and sugar, although there are also jams without added sugar. The best known are peach, strawberry or pear jams, although there are many other flavors such as fig jam, blueberry jam, orange jam, etc.
• Jam: it has larger pieces of fruit and even whole fruits, submerged in syrup. It is sweeter and thicker than jam and you can find different flavors such as peach jam or apricot jam.
• Compote: this is cooked and canned fruit, with no or very little added sugar. It is an ideal system for small fruits such as blueberry compote, blackberry compote, red fruit compote, etc.

In addition to these three, there are other types of preserved fruits such as jelly (similar to gelatin) or quince and other organic sweets that are made with fruits.
