I have started taking it because it is prescribed for fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue patients, along with other supplements. It is early to evaluate the effectiveness but you only have to take one tablet a day and the price is very good. I think it is the best option for those of us who need this extra supplementation.

Description
Folic Acid from Natures Plus is a dietary supplement of calcium L-methylfolate, based on rice bran.
Properties and benefits of Folic Acid
Methylfolate (calcium L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate) is the metabolically active form of folate.
A water-soluble vitamin necessary for the formation of structural proteins and hemoglobin, important in pregnant women and especially during the preconception period, since it helps protect the baby against congenital malformations and prevent neural tube defects.
Supplementation with calcium methylfolate ensures greater absorption of the vitamin, since it is not affected by intestinal imbalances or metabolic disorders.
Thanks to the involvement of folic acid in the metabolism of homocysteine, folic acid supplementation can be effective in the treatment of hyperhomocysteinemia and, therefore, in the prevention of vascular lesions at different levels.
Folate deficiency can cause macrocytic and megaloblastic anemia. Situations at risk of deficiency are: pregnant women, elderly people, intestinal pathology, chronic alcoholism. Also some drugs, such as oral contraceptives, diuretics (triamtherene), antirheumatics (sulfasalazine) may be responsible for the depletion of this vitamin in our body.
The advantages of using L-methylfolate compared to folic or folinic acid are:
- It has a bioavailability seven times higher.
- Obtains CSF levels three times higher than blood levels due to its ability to cross the BBB.
- Reduces homocysteine levels more effectively.
- Does not mask anemia due to lack of vitamin B12.
- It is less likely to cause a decrease in “Natural Killer” cells.
How to take Folic Acid?
1 tablet a day, preferably with meals.
Precautions
Folic acid supplements may interact with antitumor drugs (methotrexate), and antiepileptic drugs (primidone, phenytoin, phenobarbital, valproic acid).
