Description
NAC is a modified form of cysteine attached to the acetyl group. Cysteine - one of the endogenous amino acids (i.e. the ones that the body can synthesize itself), containing sulphur.
Properties and benefits of NAC
Due to its specific structure, it is a very reactive amino acid, binds many toxic substances, and thus is helpful in detoxification processes. L-cysteine (together with glutamine and glycine) is also essential in the process of synthesis of glutathione - a strong intraorganic antioxidant. It also takes part in the synthesis of proteins, enzymes and coenzymes.
It supports the growth of muscle mass caused by intensive training, accelerates muscle regeneration, increases endurance and efficiency of the body, enhances the effectiveness of exercise, delays the feeling of fatigue, prevents erosion of joint elements, cartilage and ligaments.
