Description
Sesame is an annual tropical herb that can grow up to 1.50 m tall.
Sesame should be transplanted when the plants are about 15 cm tall. Sesame is traditionally grown in desert environments, so in terms of watering, it is a very drought tolerant plant that does not like waterlogging.
Harvesting is done by carefully cutting the pods from the plants, then they are placed on newspaper or a clean cloth and left to dry in a cool, dry place. Once the pods are brittle and completely dry, it is time to gently open them to release the seeds.
Sesame is rich in calcium, reduces cholesterol and blood pressure and is a source of protein and vegetable fats.
It is better not to use an automatic irrigation system or pamper it with fertilizers, since it also prefers not very fertile soils to grow.
