Indication

In pregnant or lactating women, the requirements of nutrients such as calcium, iron, iodine and folic acid increase. The correct levels of vitamins are important, especially vitamin C, vitamin D and beta-carotene, due to their role in the processes of cell division, protection of mucous membranes and the formation of new tissues (bones, collagen, ..)

Before pregnancy it is important to ensure optimal levels of micronutrients such as vitamin D, folic acid, vitamin B12, iron, and zinc. Folic acid is essential to prevent neural tube defects (spina bifida and anencephaly) and prevent premature delivery.

-Vitamin D helps to increase the absorption of calcium, whose requirement is higher.

-Vitamin B6 is necessary for the development of the nervous system and the growth of the fetus in general.

-Vitamin B12 is essential in the formation of spina bifida in the fetus, along with vitamin B6.

-The supply of iron is essential because the mother's blood volume increases.

-Zinc contributes to fertility and normal reproduction

During pregnancy , vitamin and mineral requirements increase. Above all, it is convenient to reinforce the contribution of vitamins B6, B12, B9, C and D. Precautions

A supplemental intake of folic acid increases the maternal folate level. A low amount of maternal folate is a risk factor for neural tube defects in the developing fetus. This beneficial effect is obtained with a supplemental daily folic acid intake of 400 μg for at least one month before conception and up to three months after conception.
