Description

Indigo comes from a plant called indigofera tinctoria which is used as a dark blue dye.

Properties and benefits of Indigo

This powder is usually mixed with other herbs such as henna, or cassia obovata to achieve a more natural and less 'orange' hair tone. It is a safe, semi-permanent dye and does not damage the hair. Indigo is very sensitive to sulfates, so it is important to always use a sulfate-FREE shampoo after application.

How to apply Indigo?

To dye dark brown hair: Prepare the henna mixture according to package directions and let it sit for at least 4 hours. 20 minutes before dyeing your hair, make the indigo paste (mixing indigo with warm water until you get a creamy texture like hot chocolate). Mix the two mixtures in the ratio of 3:1 (henna:indigo). Apply it to your hair from the scalp to the tip. It is recommended to leave it on for 2-3 hours before washing with water or a mild shampoo.

To dye hair black: First dye your hair with henna (according to package instructions). Leave it on for 1 hour before washing and drying your hair. Re-dye your hair indigo (mixing indigo with warm water until you get a creamy chocolate-like texture 20 minutes before applying it.) It is recommended to leave it on for approximately 1-2 hours before washing it off with a mild shampoo..
