Lecithin stands out for its high content of phospholipids, especially phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylethanolamine. Phosphatidylcholine is a precursor of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine and, together with other phospholipids, forms part of cell membranes.

The contribution of lecithin or phosphatidylcholine becomes essential when the contribution of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids in the form of triglycerides is increased. Lecithins contain choline, a nutrient related to B vitamins, important for maintaining liver health. Its deficiency is related to hepatic steatosis and muscle damage.

In certain stages such as pregnancy and lactation, choline needs are increased. Egg lecithin may contribute to optimal choline levels.

Two capsules of Egg Lecithin contain 12 mg of cholesterol.
