What is spelled?
Spelled is a variety of wheat that has been cultivated for 7000 years, it is the pure flour with which the Egyptians invented bread; considered as the origin of all varieties of wheat grain today. In both ancient Egypt and China, it was already used, in addition to food, for making beer. Variety little known and exploited for its low productive yield, spelled was on the verge of disappearing. Today its boom is unstoppable due to the discovery of its excellent nutritional properties. In addition to bread and beer, spelled is used to make cookies, flakes and semolina such as couscous.
Why is spelled so healthy?
Compared to the common wheat grain, spelled has a higher level of proteins, minerals, vitamins and trace elements. It also contains the eight essential amino acids, which is very interesting for vegetarians. Its contribution of magnesium, iron, phosphorus, vitamin E, vitamin B and beta-carotene make it especially nutritious. In addition, spelled provides us with a lot of fiber, being ideal to combat constipation, obesity, and other problems derived from the lack of fiber in the diet. It is also very rich in silicic acid, one of the most necessary nutrients in our body, which helps to form different tissues and organs.
